9th Circuit Court of Appeals - All your children belong to us

The 9th Circuit has a well-deserved reputation for judicial rulings that fly in the face of common sense, let alone coming from the outlands of Left elitism. The latest ruling is jawdropping in its patently offensive and blatantly anti-parent basis.

Parents' rights were not violated when a Southern California elementary school conducted a psychological survey of their children and asked them about sexual feelings and masturbation, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday. ...

"Parents have a right to inform their children when and as they wish on the subject of sex,'' said Judge Stephen Reinhardt in the 3-0 ruling. "They have no constitutional right, however, to prevent a public school from providing its students with whatever information it wishes to provide, sexual or otherwise.''

This is not just about the appropriateness of demanding six year olds to answer questions about masturbation and suicide, this is a direct ruling that parents, once they deliver their children to the school house door by legal compulsion have no inherent rights to control, oversee or even question what the teacher wishes to teach to the children.

No wonder vouchers plans and homeschooling are hated by the Education Elites ... it interfers with their Great Social Experimentation on a legally captive audience.

I welcome any substansive argument on why this latest ruling should stand and why the 9th Circuit should be considered anything but a bad Leftist joke on the country.

Whoever controls the Palmdale schools is the true culprit, if culprit there be.

Why did these parents go to court in the first place?

There's more here than meets the eye....

Seriously, Car. I've lived in glorious liberal bastions all my life and never encountered this kind of asinine behaviors in the public schools. Of course this is wrong, and I can't comprehend the court's ruling, except that it seems like so much law - both right and left wing - to be a mechanistic application of the law, rather than a common sense response to clear human needs.

It almost seems like a winger setup - not that I'm implying that, but it plays so well into their hands. They just love to have something to be all outraged about, no matter how irrelevant to 99.999999999% of America it may be.

I notice how wingers love to expound on their authoritarian parenting styles. I wonder why all the kids in my community raised by hardcore wingers are such losers - drunks, college dropouts, wreckers of cars, assaulters of gays, harassers of women. You'll notice the pattern exists in their winger parents as well.

It isn't a mystery how to raise great kids. First do no harm. God made every infant perfect. Just honor their perfection. As they enter school, pay attention. Follow and support their education. Help them learn healthy lifestyles. As they enter adolescence - the big key - RESPECT them.

Worked for me. Four stellar liberal beauties. Two in college on scholarship, one just ran his first marathon, beating all 6 West Pointers in the race. One just won MVP on his freshman football team (losing record unfortunately) and, like all my kids, made his first high school honor roll. (Haven't missed one yet.) And one just got the part of Bill in the school musical Oliver this year. But don't worry - he's not gay. His girlfriend plays Nancy. And they'll both be part of the school choir singing Handel's Messiah with the NY Philharmonic at Lincoln Center this Christmas.

Maybe wingers should just stick to tending their own hearths. From what I've observed, they've got plenty of work to do on that score.
