Democrats to Jews: 'Nice non-profit you got there, it would be a shame if anything were to happen to it."

Just how a Democrat sweep of Congress and the White House would rule govern the United States is illustrated by how they approached the anti-Iran rally and its organizers

Hillary Clinton won't be speaking at Monday's anti-Iran rally at the United Nations -- and neither will Republican Sarah Palin or any other politicians for that matter. The reason? A heated behind the scenes tug-of-war.

Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.

"This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker," Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD. [...]

The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, "it could jeopardize their tax exempt status" if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.

So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.

"It's an absolute shame that this has happened," Hikind said. "To threaten organizations … to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don't withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we're going to look into your tax exempt status … that's McCarthyism."

Another Jewish group tried to step into the breach by inviting Palin to a different protest a day earlier.

"I'm absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats," said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. "I'm a Democrat and for the first time in my life I'm going to vote Republican. I can't take it anymore."

I am disappointed at Senator Hilary Clinton. This occasion should be a bipartisan. She should be strong enough to stand up to her party. If she plans on running for President, 2012, she better start changing because we want a President who for all of the people. I would have voted for her if she was on the ticket. She is showing the American that the only way to be powerful is to be dictated.

Your first mistake was in thinking that Hillary could be non-partisan about anything. Even when she's acting non-partisan, it is for partisan purposes.

As with most politicians.

When they say they are being bi-partisan, it is for political purposes, nothing more, nothing less... "Hey look at me, I'm bi-partisan, and trust me you'll see that in all my political ads come election time!"

Poor Caribou Barbie wanted to use Israel as a campaign prop to cover her nasty anti-Semitism but she got outmaneuvered. So sad for not-ready-for-prime-time Palin.

Josh

Nice lying slam there. Face it, the heart of modern anti-Semitism is on the Left, both here and in Europe.

Unless all those Arafat handkerchiefs wound around the chic lefties at all the hip anti-American marches are really just photoshopped in.

Nah, Palin adheres to a strain of Christianity that has anti-semitic elements. It's made Florida much closer than McCain would like it to be, even you must admit. I don't see why you think handkerchiefs at marches is of any relevance, since anti-semitism among "the Left" doesn't mean there's no anti-semitism on "the Right", which there clearly is. It's a really nonsensical statement from you.

Digger:

You are incorrect about Palin. Does Biden (your VP choice) have an Israeli flag in his office? Palin does. Does not sound like an anti-sem to me. BTW: Do you get paid to smear Republicans with your incorrect statements?

mere

It is Josh trying to promote the slander that Palin is an anti-Semite, not Digger. Authors of comments are BELOW the comments here.

Just Josh's small contribution to astroturfing.

Palin approvingly quoted a notorious anti-Semite. She sat in church while a guest said that terrorism is God punishing Jews for their unbelief. Those are facts, Dear mere cadans. I haven't posted anything that is incorrect.
