Palin and Foreign Policy
Gov Palin has been in the very unique position of having her state in kissing proximity with Russia.
You all remember Russia, right? Raper of Georgia, who has just annexed So. Ossetia on its way to re-Sovietize the region?
Well, leaving aside the hysterical Obamabots and Vagina Warriors who are busy with their lame attempts to paint Gov. Palin as a white-trash bimbo (say hello to Feministe, Pandagon, et al), adults actually interested in facts should consider this
Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.
According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.
She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

What can Palin claim that Hillary can't?
The usual Vagina Warriors (to link just two examples of this wing of Left cultism) are absolutely apoplectic over Govenor Palin's selection as VP nominee. After blasting her as a "woman-hating woman" and attempting to float the meme that this is "proof" Rethuglicans (when they aren't starving seniors and children) are insulting voters.
Leave aside for a moment that Gov. Palin has more executive experience than either Obama or Biden, let's compare the governor's Real Woman bona fides with Hillary Clinton.
However one defines Sen. Clinton's stint in office, she wouldn't be there if she hadn't married Bill. Hillary got her job because of her husband.
Governor Sarah Palin got her job the old fashioned, traditional feminist way, she earned it. She didn't even need to pull a stunt to have every other candidate tossed off the ballot like some community organizer with aspirations to the Presidency did.

Those so-called Denver cops should be immediately suspended and the DNC should be held accountable.

What does one learn reading the 42 page document? I mean, besides the fact that bureaucratise is better than Lunestra for any getting-to-sleep issues?
1. There is nothing "new" in the regulation. It is, in fact, a kind of centralizing of already existing statutes and acts pertaining to the right of health care workers and institutions not to be forced to perform or participate in abortions.
2. What is actually "new" is complaince benchmarks so that any entity receiving federal funds is not only aware of existing statutes/regulations, but must certify their compliance and make it known to others within their organization of their rights.
Now, pay attention to this, because this is not being covered by Lamestream or Vagina Warriors or Hillary! This is from the document itself:
(c) Entities to whom this subsection 88.4(c) applies shall not:
(1) discriminate against any physician or other health care professional in the employment, promotion, termination, or extension of staff or other privileges because he performed or assisted in the performance, or refused to perform or assist in the performance of a lawful sterilization procedure or abortion on the grounds that doing so would be contrary to his religious beliefs or moral convictions, or because of his religious beliefs or moral convictions concerning abortions or sterilization procedures themselves;(2) discriminate against or deny admission to any applicant for training or study because of reluctance or willingness to counsel, suggest, recommend, assist, or in any way participate in the performance of abortions or sterilizations contrary to or consistent with the applicant’s religious beliefs or moral convictions.
Read that again. Let it sink in. The regulation the Vagina Warriors are rending their organic, carbon-footprint reduced, commune-produced, blouses over protects both people who object to abortions and PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT ABORTIONS from discrimination.
Maybe I should break it down for the "let's fuck but hell I want my neighbor to pay for my pills/foam/abortion" anti-women, anti-responsibility, puerile females out there -- A HOSIPITAL CANNOT FORCE A DOCTOR OR NURSE TO PERFORM AN ABORTION AND A HOSPITAL CANNOT FIRE A DOCTOR OR NURSE FOR PERFORMING AN ABORTION if they receive federal funds.

Obama's layers of stupidity -- the 'I'm in awe of it' edition
Last week my 13 y/o stepson (at that wonderous age where they know, know, exactly everything about anything) decided to tell his dad (my husband) he had the solution to high gas prices at the pump -- have the government take over the oil companies and pass a law lowering the prices. Husband blinked a couple of times, then said "I suggest you go read an econ book and get back to me."
Now, we tolerate such stuff from 13 year olds, it kinda comes with the territory of herding teens toward adulthood.
How do we explain Obama?

Let's get real here a moment. In the majority of successful marriages, each person goes with their strengths. There is never a "50/50" split of all things in a marriage -- Hubby doing the dishes on odd days, wifey on evens with a yearly change up. This includes even the financial duties. Many a marriage sees wife in the CFO role ... taking care of the checkbook, bills, watching over insurance premiums, either doing the taxes or making sure paperwork is in order for the accountant. Why should the McCains be any different?
McCain's interests and strengths are not in the economic realm. McCain is also married to a very successful business woman.
And that's something the Dems, in their rush to smear Mrs. McCain, bury. Yes, she inherited the business from her father ... not much different than Mitt Romney or Steve Forbes. Like them, she too has taken the business to further success. So why would McCain do anything different than to leave all the financial decisions and details to her? With seven children, numerous enterprises and charitable endeavors, an extensive and diverse investment portfolio is to be expected.
So McCain is to be held accountable for ... what? The audicity of letting his wife run the family's investments? I guess for Dems, women are incapable of the brains and talent to do that, right?
I mean, all those accountable male teachers Obama is talking about, I'm sure they know exactly what stocks their pension funds are invested in and are manly enough not to let the little woman at home worry her tiny brain over it ...

Bread & Circuses: The Democrat Platform Pt 1
The Audacity of Womyn
The draft copy of the Democrat Platform has been issued, weighing in at 55 pages. It will take several posts to hit even the highlights, but I will comment on portions as they relate to particular issues, rather than a linear, start-to-finish, critique.
What was first caught my attention was the rather startling rhetoric, albeit expected, from left feminists where it concerned abortion. The Democrat Platform states:
The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.The Democratic Party also strongly supports access to affordable family planning services and comprehensive age-appropriate sex education which empowers people to make informed choices and live healthy lives. We also recognize that such health care and education help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reduce the need for abortions.
The Democratic Party also strongly supports a woman’s decision to have a child by ensuring access to and availability of programs for pre- and post-natal health care, parenting skills, income support, and caring adoption programs.
And the left feminist "Woohoo!":
First of all, the acknowledgment of the women-poverty link that Dana mentions greatly pleases me. As does support for ERA being back, the statement against sexism, and of course, what everyone is talking about — the new statement on reproductive rights. Not only have they dropped the “safe, legal and rare” bullshit, they’ve strengthened their support for abortion rights for all women, the right to access birth control, and services for rape survivors. [...]Notice the lack of implication that having a child is a more moral or better choice than abortion, but instead treat it as an equally valid one? Impressive!
Leave aside that the Left is demanding 'Taxpayer-funded Abortions for All!' but that they are trying to ensure that any abortion debate be stripped of moral dimension.
Vagina Warriors are not satisfied with legal access, they won't be satisfied with government-provided abortions, they also demand that abortion be considered as valid a moral choice as giving birth.
That is a lie.
The vast majority of abortions take place in the first trimester and are done at for convenience reasons. Those are legal abortions and (in my personal reluctant pro-choice opinion) should remain so. But they are also, in general, immoral abortions. Artificially inducing the death of nascent human life when it is not necessary is, indeed, a lesser moral choice then allowing the life to continue.
As the Left has subsumed liberalism, the ideology of sloth and irresponsibility is being held up as worthy goals. Life without risk, life without disappointment, life without burden - the Left wants it, the Left wants it now, and DAMN IT, someone is going to get it for ME!

GENEVA (AFP) - A giant inflatable dog turd by American artist Paul McCarthy blew away from an exhibition in the garden of a Swiss museum, bringing down a power line and breaking a greenhouse window before it landed again, the museum said Monday.The art work, titled "Complex S(expletive..)", is the size of a house. The wind carried it 200 metres (yards) from the Paul Klee Centre in Berne before it fell back to Earth in the grounds of a children's home, said museum director Juri Steiner.

Well, doah. I've only known about this and warned friends and family for years. Nice to have LATimes catch up.

RIP Isaac Hayes
Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Schular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.
No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.
Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s.
He released his first solo album in 1967.
In 1971, the theme from "Shaft" became a pop hit and won an Academy Award for best original theme song. The song and the movie score also won Grammy awards for best original score and movie theme.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
