Palin and Foreign Policy

Gov Palin has been in the very unique position of having her state in kissing proximity with Russia.

You all remember Russia, right? Raper of Georgia, who has just annexed So. Ossetia on its way to re-Sovietize the region?

Well, leaving aside the hysterical Obamabots and Vagina Warriors who are busy with their lame attempts to paint Gov. Palin as a white-trash bimbo (say hello to Feministe, Pandagon, et al), adults actually interested in facts should consider this

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

Trooper-gate? Eh.

Congratulations to MataHarley at Flopping Aces doing the yeoman's job of gathering the full story behind the slanderous charge that Gov. Palin has "abused her power" in regards to her ex-brother-in-law.

Now, let me suggest a bumpersticker for the Obamabots and Vagina Warriors wanting to continue with that tact:

What can Palin claim that Hillary can't?

The usual Vagina Warriors (to link just two examples of this wing of Left cultism) are absolutely apoplectic over Govenor Palin's selection as VP nominee. After blasting her as a "woman-hating woman" and attempting to float the meme that this is "proof" Rethuglicans (when they aren't starving seniors and children) are insulting voters.

Leave aside for a moment that Gov. Palin has more executive experience than either Obama or Biden, let's compare the governor's Real Woman bona fides with Hillary Clinton.

However one defines Sen. Clinton's stint in office, she wouldn't be there if she hadn't married Bill. Hillary got her job because of her husband.

Governor Sarah Palin got her job the old fashioned, traditional feminist way, she earned it. She didn't even need to pull a stunt to have every other candidate tossed off the ballot like some community organizer with aspirations to the Presidency did.

It's PALIN!!!

Holy crap, that's going to hurt the Obama camp.

According to a Republican strategist, Palin is the nominee, though McCain's campaign has not comfirmed this.

With an announcement scheduled in Dayton, Ohio, an associate of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said the governor had been informed he is not McCain's pick.

Democrats' God Problem

It's not just Queen Nan who snarls at Catholic Bishops and Cardinals that She is, Herself, a better expert than they in Catholic catechism or Rev. Wright's hate-talk pays better than gospel. Democrats who usually eschew God as the some white patriarchal dude out to interfere with their fun now worship Obama in some really creepy videos

Image created from 'My American Prayer' - Celebrities openly worship Obama

And this is the ground
That keeps our feet from getting wet
And this is the sky over our head
And what you see depends on where you stand
And how you jump will tell you where you're gonna land.

American Prayer
American Prayer

My oh my
Couldn't get much higher
Lets not kick out the darkness
Make the light brighter

Yeah. Sure. Uh huh.

Then there is how Donald Miller gave the benediction last Monday night at the Democrat Convention:

Give those in this room who have power, along with those who will meet next week, the courage to work together to finally provide health care to those who don’t have any, and a living wage so families can thrive rather than struggle.

Hep (sic) us figure out how to pay teachers what they deserve and give children an equal opportunity to get a college education.

Help us figure out the balance between economic opportunity and corporate gluttony.

A prayer to enact specific Democrat legislation. Being non-clergy, I guess Miller skipped Exodus 20:7.

Democrats have no use for a God they don't define and control.

Fascist Democrat America

Ah, the sweet sweet appetizer of the coming Obamerica!

ABC reporter Asa Eslocker arrested for photographing Democrats from a public sidewalk.

Screenshot above from video here. Story here.

Video taken at the scene shows a man, wearing the uniform of a Boulder County sheriff, ordering Eslocker off the sidewalk in front of the hotel, to the side of the entrance.

The sheriff's officer is seen telling Eslocker the sidewalk is owned by the hotel. Later he is seen pushing Eslocker off the sidewalk into oncoming traffic, forcing him to the other side of the street. [...]

During the arrest, one of the officers can be heard saying to Eslocker, "You're lucky I didn't knock the f..k out of you."

Eslocker was released late today after posting $500 bond.

I work with cops. I have a great deal of respect for cops. But this was beyond the pale. This was cops acking as paid thugs for the DNC to keep embarrassing pictures from the press. What fool believes a public sidewalk is owned by a private hotel?

Those so-called Denver cops should be immediately suspended and the DNC should be held accountable.

Paging Mr. Bergeron, Mr. Harrison Bergeron ...

In today's example of the true moral cowardice that is the foundation of Left cult "egalitarianism", a nine-year-old boy is barred from his Youth Baseball League for being too good

Nine-year-old Jericho Scott is a good baseball player -- too good, it turns out.

The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more. When Jericho took the mound anyway last week, the opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left, his coach said.

Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will disband Jericho's team, redistributing its players among other squads, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it. [...]

Jericho's coach and parents say the boy is being unfairly targeted because he turned down an invitation to join the defending league champion, which is sponsored by an employer of one of the league's administrators. [...]

Local attorney John Williams was planning to meet with Jericho's parents Monday to discuss legal options.

"You don't have to be learned in the law to know in your heart that it's wrong," he said. "Now you have to be punished because you excel at something?"

Yes, Mr. Williams, in Barack and Michelle's America, you do.

Things that chap my ass: Hillary and the Shrillbots

If one trolls the Vagina Warrior sites and sees the phrases "Bush administration is jeopardizing women’s health by putting their ideology first". or "... regulations are the offense, blatantly threatening our reproductive freedoms." be assured there is probably more to the story. Especially when defeated, humiliated Hillary! needs to find a way back into the news cycle

The regulations now published by HHS raise serious concerns about women's access to family planning services. [...]

We've had enough of putting ideology over science and failed policies harming healthy families.

Oh, isn't that cute? "Ideology over science".

Would somebody tell me when abortion at any stage of fetal development is now suddenly unassailable under the magic label of "science"?

Not that radical feminists, berift of tolerance for anything outside of their ideology, would look beyond the shrieking hysteria and truncated reports from their fellow children in lamestream media

There is also deep concern that the rule could have far-reaching, but less obvious, implications. Because of its wide scope and because it would -- apparently for the first time -- define abortion in a federal regulation as anything that affects a fertilized egg, the regulation could raise questions about a broad spectrum of scientific research and care, critics say.

Not that Vagina Warriors and ilk would actually sit down and read the fucking draft in the first place.

What does one learn reading the 42 page document? I mean, besides the fact that bureaucratise is better than Lunestra for any getting-to-sleep issues?

1. There is nothing "new" in the regulation. It is, in fact, a kind of centralizing of already existing statutes and acts pertaining to the right of health care workers and institutions not to be forced to perform or participate in abortions.

2. What is actually "new" is complaince benchmarks so that any entity receiving federal funds is not only aware of existing statutes/regulations, but must certify their compliance and make it known to others within their organization of their rights.

Now, pay attention to this, because this is not being covered by Lamestream or Vagina Warriors or Hillary! This is from the document itself:

(c) Entities to whom this subsection 88.4(c) applies shall not:
(1) discriminate against any physician or other health care professional in the employment, promotion, termination, or extension of staff or other privileges because he performed or assisted in the performance, or refused to perform or assist in the performance of a lawful sterilization procedure or abortion on the grounds that doing so would be contrary to his religious beliefs or moral convictions, or because of his religious beliefs or moral convictions concerning abortions or sterilization procedures themselves;

(2) discriminate against or deny admission to any applicant for training or study because of reluctance or willingness to counsel, suggest, recommend, assist, or in any way participate in the performance of abortions or sterilizations contrary to or consistent with the applicant’s religious beliefs or moral convictions.

Read that again. Let it sink in. The regulation the Vagina Warriors are rending their organic, carbon-footprint reduced, commune-produced, blouses over protects both people who object to abortions and PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT ABORTIONS from discrimination.

Maybe I should break it down for the "let's fuck but hell I want my neighbor to pay for my pills/foam/abortion" anti-women, anti-responsibility, puerile females out there -- A HOSIPITAL CANNOT FORCE A DOCTOR OR NURSE TO PERFORM AN ABORTION AND A HOSPITAL CANNOT FIRE A DOCTOR OR NURSE FOR PERFORMING AN ABORTION if they receive federal funds.

Any lurking self-identified rad-feminists still unclear on this? Listen up, cunts.

Let me give you an analogy (and you might go look up what that means, considering y'all have a hard time with anything outside of your ten-index card points of left dogma)

I'm pro-capital punishment. Capital punishment is legal. But I would not demand that doctors/nurses/technicians/pharmacists be forced BY LAW to participate in executions if they have a conscience moral objection.

Got it twatwaffles? It is clear?

That's what happens when a "right of opportunity" transmorgrifies into a "right to an object/service". Suddenly the assholes in the audience think the Constitution gives 'em a blank check on the labor of another.

Obama's layers of stupidity -- the 'I'm in awe of it' edition

Last week my 13 y/o stepson (at that wonderous age where they know, know, exactly everything about anything) decided to tell his dad (my husband) he had the solution to high gas prices at the pump -- have the government take over the oil companies and pass a law lowering the prices. Husband blinked a couple of times, then said "I suggest you go read an econ book and get back to me."

Now, we tolerate such stuff from 13 year olds, it kinda comes with the territory of herding teens toward adulthood.

How do we explain Obama?

Everybody’s watching what’s going on in Beijing right now, at the Olympics. Think about the amount of money China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their trains systems, their airports are vastly superior to us now which means if you’re a corporation deciding where to do business you’re starting to thing “Beijing looks like a pretty good option.” Why aren't we doing the same thing?

Scratch a Dem, find a sexist

The Democrat nasty "gotcha" spin on how "doddering old McSame is so rich he can't even count his houses" even has Mr. "I'm new and improved" Obama chucking dishonesty with a flick of his slendar, elitist wrist:

Obama said: "I guess if you think being rich means you've got to make $5 million and if you don't know how many houses you have, it's not surprising you might think the economy is fundamentally strong." He returned to the McCain remark later, saying of teachers: "Most teachers hold themselves accountable. They didn't go into teaching to make money. They don't have seven houses."

How is McCain not accountable?

Let's get real here a moment. In the majority of successful marriages, each person goes with their strengths. There is never a "50/50" split of all things in a marriage -- Hubby doing the dishes on odd days, wifey on evens with a yearly change up. This includes even the financial duties. Many a marriage sees wife in the CFO role ... taking care of the checkbook, bills, watching over insurance premiums, either doing the taxes or making sure paperwork is in order for the accountant. Why should the McCains be any different?

McCain's interests and strengths are not in the economic realm. McCain is also married to a very successful business woman.

And that's something the Dems, in their rush to smear Mrs. McCain, bury. Yes, she inherited the business from her father ... not much different than Mitt Romney or Steve Forbes. Like them, she too has taken the business to further success. So why would McCain do anything different than to leave all the financial decisions and details to her? With seven children, numerous enterprises and charitable endeavors, an extensive and diverse investment portfolio is to be expected.

So McCain is to be held accountable for ... what? The audicity of letting his wife run the family's investments? I guess for Dems, women are incapable of the brains and talent to do that, right?

I mean, all those accountable male teachers Obama is talking about, I'm sure they know exactly what stocks their pension funds are invested in and are manly enough not to let the little woman at home worry her tiny brain over it ...

Breaking news: Experts shocked!

Two parents better than one

Research shows that in most families, Dad tends to be the rule-breaker, mess-maker, risk-taker, while Mom provides the TLC and respects routines. But the question remains - are these two very different styles confusing to kids?

"The bottom line for children is, 'I don't have just one and a half person who is nuts about me. I have two and they are kind of nuts about me in interesting ways. They bring out different parts of me,'" explains Kyle Pruett, M.D., a child psychiatrist and the author of "Father Need: Why Father Care Is as Essential as Mother Care for Your Child." [...]

And while Dad may not clean the breakfast dishes until after playtime is over, and may take the kids out in the rain, his parenting style -- play before pots and pans and spontaneity over routine -- is not necessarily wrong, just different.

A recent study of more than 200 new parents, led by James McHale, Ph.D. of the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg, reveals that this approach is healthier for the kids.

Wow, two opposite-sex people "co-parenting" and their children, being exposed to the innate gender differences, are the better for it! Whodda thunk it? It's like water is wet!

What was that about no consequences to same-sex marriage and that such unions are "no different" than opposite-sex unions?

Bread & Circuses: The Democrat Platform Pt 1

The Audacity of Womyn

The draft copy of the Democrat Platform has been issued, weighing in at 55 pages. It will take several posts to hit even the highlights, but I will comment on portions as they relate to particular issues, rather than a linear, start-to-finish, critique.

What was first caught my attention was the rather startling rhetoric, albeit expected, from left feminists where it concerned abortion. The Democrat Platform states:

The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.

The Democratic Party also strongly supports access to affordable family planning services and comprehensive age-appropriate sex education which empowers people to make informed choices and live healthy lives. We also recognize that such health care and education help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reduce the need for abortions.

The Democratic Party also strongly supports a woman’s decision to have a child by ensuring access to and availability of programs for pre- and post-natal health care, parenting skills, income support, and caring adoption programs.

And the left feminist "Woohoo!":
First of all, the acknowledgment of the women-poverty link that Dana mentions greatly pleases me. As does support for ERA being back, the statement against sexism, and of course, what everyone is talking about — the new statement on reproductive rights. Not only have they dropped the “safe, legal and rare” bullshit, they’ve strengthened their support for abortion rights for all women, the right to access birth control, and services for rape survivors. [...]

Notice the lack of implication that having a child is a more moral or better choice than abortion, but instead treat it as an equally valid one? Impressive!

Leave aside that the Left is demanding 'Taxpayer-funded Abortions for All!' but that they are trying to ensure that any abortion debate be stripped of moral dimension.

Vagina Warriors are not satisfied with legal access, they won't be satisfied with government-provided abortions, they also demand that abortion be considered as valid a moral choice as giving birth.

That is a lie.

The vast majority of abortions take place in the first trimester and are done at for convenience reasons. Those are legal abortions and (in my personal reluctant pro-choice opinion) should remain so. But they are also, in general, immoral abortions. Artificially inducing the death of nascent human life when it is not necessary is, indeed, a lesser moral choice then allowing the life to continue.

As the Left has subsumed liberalism, the ideology of sloth and irresponsibility is being held up as worthy goals. Life without risk, life without disappointment, life without burden - the Left wants it, the Left wants it now, and DAMN IT, someone is going to get it for ME!

Installation 'art' is sh*t

flying dog turd

GENEVA (AFP) - A giant inflatable dog turd by American artist Paul McCarthy blew away from an exhibition in the garden of a Swiss museum, bringing down a power line and breaking a greenhouse window before it landed again, the museum said Monday.

The art work, titled "Complex S(expletive..)", is the size of a house. The wind carried it 200 metres (yards) from the Paul Klee Centre in Berne before it fell back to Earth in the grounds of a children's home, said museum director Juri Steiner.

Poor little gangbangers have it so hard ...

Los Angeles Times runs an article on gangs "getting into" identity theft.

Well, doah. I've only known about this and warned friends and family for years. Nice to have LATimes catch up.

But the end of this article has to be read to be believed

Gang members sometimes recruit corporate insiders, said Linda Foley, co-founder of the Identity Theft Resource Center, a San Diego nonprofit group that helped with the study. They visit restaurants and other hangouts, listening for people complaining about money troubles, then offer cash in exchange for information they can use in identity theft.

She said gang members need to do such things because they often have trouble finding a job and having the opportunity to orchestrate an inside job on their own. "It can be hard to get hired when there's a swastika tattooed on your head," Foley said.

Deja vu

Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia 1968 by Herblock Sept 3, 1968

I was 14 when Soviet tanks rolled into Prague because some "moderate" communists decided to gingerly decentralize bits of the economy and flirt with limited democracy.

It was a defining political moment for me. Today's continued rampage of the Russian bear in Georgia is way too familiar.

RIP Isaac Hayes

Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Schular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.

No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.

Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s.

He released his first solo album in 1967.

In 1971, the theme from "Shaft" became a pop hit and won an Academy Award for best original theme song. The song and the movie score also won Grammy awards for best original score and movie theme.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

The real deal (Updated)

A picture is worth:

President Bush talks with Andrea Duran and head coach Mike Candrea as he visits the practice of the U.S. women's softball team at the 2008 Summer Olympic games in Beijing, China Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008. (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert)

Outside of the Leftcultists, (dkos, pandagon, moveon, et al) who masturbate to photoshopped pics of President Bush eating babies while whispering "evil evil evil", reasonable and sane people don't deny the man his innate humanity and humility, even as they may have policy differences. Whether among the troops or in meeting with families, GW easily demonstrates a geniune common touch. Something that is evident again in his interactions with American Olympic athletes.

From The Anchoress

You remember Bush, right? The guy who goes to Asia and tells China to free her people, while the press jeers, the guy who, while in Asia also meets with Democracy Activists in Burma and gets ignored for it, the guy who drew enormous and supportive crowds in Korea, while the American press yawned?

Sure, you remember Bush! He's the guy whose life was threatened along with Barack Obama's but only the threat to Obama was newsworthy for a very long time at CNN. Bush? You mean the creepy moron who will be charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity as soon as congress can figure out how to do that without exposing itself or having to put some of its own members under oath?

Yeah, that guy! The guy who does more than just talk about freedom and progress. The guy who has brought real hope and change to people all over the world, and yes, here in America. But you don't want to hear it. It's the wrong and inconvenient narrative, the embargoed one.

U.S. President George W. Bush playfully pats the back of U.S. Women's Beach Volleyball team player Misty May-Treanor (L) at her invitation while visiting the Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Grounds at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China, August 9, 2008. Teammate Kerri Walsh (R) watches. (Reuters)

What Would Bill Clinton Do?

Bush knuckled off a couple of lobs, but defending gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh gave the chief executive some pointers. Then after a good play, in the tradition of female volleyballers, May-Treanor turned, bent over slightly and offered her bikinied rear-end for the 43rd president to slap.

"Mr. President," she said, "want to?"

Want to has nothing to do with it in public life.

As the son of a president, a husband of nearly 37 years, the father of two daughters, the subject of some attempted tabloid exposes and a seasoned political veteran, who is not a female athlete but knows that every camera for a half-mile is trained on him, Bush wisely chose instead to brush his hand across the small of May-Treanor's back. (See photo.)

Queen Nan and Crazy Cindy

Fasten your seatbelts everyone, and be sure to bring the popcorn

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan qualified today for a November showdown with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, collecting the signatures needed to get on the ballot as an independent candidate for Congress.

"We're very excited," said Sheehan, 51, the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq who is well-known for her protest outside President Bush's Texas ranch. "Now we have to get organized and regroup."

Considering how much she flogs her dead son's corpse, it would be interesting to watch any debate with her and Queen Nan and do a drinking game where "Casey" is mentioned. Hmmmm... also

Suggestions for more drink words welcome. Bush, Cheney and Rove don't count, otherwise we'd all be passed out on the floor 20 minutes in.

I've been doing my political blogging at Protein Wisdom. I haven't had time to do that and also maintain this site. I'm going to make this more about small cultural things - parenting, kids, hobbies, cooking, decorating, etc.

Also, I'm in the midst of working on a new design for this place. Been way too long since I've updated.
