Barack Obama - teh player's excuse

Any Baby Boomer woman, if she's honest, recognizes this guy. He was the one with the dreamy eyes, the great hands and after months of 'dating' that pretty much consisted of meals made from your fridge in your apartment and sex on your bed, would say, when pressed for more commitment "but baby, true love is free, true love is spontaneous. It's not about a piece of paper or a ring." Or he was the guy that talked you into shacking up with the same line of patter. Or the first husband who wore his wedding ring until you got back from the honeymoon then it lived in his sockdrawer while he said "honey, it's just a symbol. Our love isn't in material objects. Oh, by the way, I'm working late again tonight, no need to wait up."

So here we are again. Same song, different cover by putative Dem candidate Obama

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for "true patriotism" since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. [...]

The truth is that right after 9/11 I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security.'

"I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest"

Ah yes. "True patriotism." I'm sure, yes, that Mrs. Obama wouldn't blink an eye if Barack said "honey, I've decided not to wear that wedding ring on my finger because it has just become a substitute for 'true love.' "

Yeah. Sure. That's the ticket.

The more Obama opens the mouth, the more it makes me wonder about the competency (or cognitive abilities) of the Democrats who think he is a serious, mature candidate.

Yep. Who cares about policy? All that matters is whether you'll wear a silly pin. I wish conservatives had more than emoting and symbols to discuss. It's not good for the country when one side of the political debate is so silly and frivolous.
