Difficult to deal with. What do you say to a person who commits such crimes? How do they rationalize it? How do they live with themselves?

Darleen, this is off-topic, so do with it what you will, but you said on a Protein Wisdom that the United States did not support bin Laden (we did, with cash, just like we supported any muja who asked for dollars to kill Commies) and that we did not support Hussein. I could someone of your partisanship arguing that we didn't support OBL (they would be wrong, but the argument could be made; after all, much of our money went through the ISI), but you cannot claim the same about Hussein. During the Iran-Iraq War. We provided the Iraqi military with daily satellite images, allowing them to target concentrations of Iranian troops with chemical weapons, we made sure the trade routes in dual use chemicals remained open (using those weapons was the only thing keeping his army from caving), and we blocked UN Resolutions that would have condemned him.

That's what happened and it's silly to argue it now. We didn't send him military hardware, because his stuff was Russian, but we were nice enough to make sure no one sent the Iranians any of our spare parts for their stuff.

Anyway, rahter than wade thru 200 comments and hope you read this, I thought I'd put it here. It's your blog and, if you want to respond, cool. If not, I understand. It's O/T

The thread at PW got way long. You asked about zero addiction potential drugs which I referenced. Pretty much any hallucinogen qualifies. Of course there are people who get addicted to anything so it isn't totally absolute but there is nothing intrinsically addictive about any hallucinogen in regular use. Pretty much when the dose is done with you, you're done with the dose for at leats a little while. Mushrooms can get you 20 in NY. That's wrong. You have my e-mail if you want to continue

Did you read the link I provided? We did NOT give bin Laden (or any foreign Arab that came to Afghanistan) any money or support. Period.

Plus, during the 12 year Iran/Iraq war we gave only enough support to Saddam so there would be a stalemate in that war. And our support was minimal -- a tiny fraction -- of what he got from Russia. He was almost exclusively a Soviet client.

"We" did not "make" either Saddam or bin Laden.
