Does "the emotion-driven opinion of the day" refer to the spring of 2003?

Actually josh, I think it started in 2000 when Bush was elected President and the Left has been boo hooing ever since.

Nah, I think it's more likely that, after 9/11, the Right abandoned any semblance of rationality in favor of emotive sloganeering.

Hey, Josh, how do you feel about the failure of leadership on the part of Senator Reid to imediately attempt to defund the war and begin a withdrawl of American forces from that same war he believes is lost?

He is either playing politics, or hasn't got the resolve to do what needs doing. If it is the latter, then he should be replaced by someone with sufficient testicular fortitude to do what needs doing.

Sen. Reid is simply facing reality; something Mr Bush and his Neocon advisors are unable to do.

But thankfully, even the Neocons are jumping ship.

All except William Kristol and his friends. Apparently if you're a staff writer for the Weekly Standard, you are also a de facto member of Mr Bush's Kitchen Kabinet.

Disappointed. There's no need to make concessions to Bushist Dead-Enders at this late date.
