Battlestar Galactica -- NO NO NO NO

I'm tired, my clothes are covered in paint (an incident from the "getting acquainted with my new Wagner Power Roller" phase) and I've just watched the writers possibly kill off Starbuck.

Good thing I've also got a couple of gin-and-tonics in me ... otherwise I'd want to hunt down a writer or two and ask 'em, how the hell are you going to pull THIS off?

Is there something (someone?) down on the planet we don't know about? Was there really another ship?

Come on...someone help me out here. You don't give what was essentially a character that started as a callow, devil may care fighter jockey the layers, nuance and detailed back story, having them grow and change, just to flush 'em in the third season.

Do you?

Oh... the last scene with Adama destroying his model?

Still frakking best show on television.

Starbuck as one of the Five missing models? I'm not so sure about that...

Around the "90 seconds to hard deck" call, we saw Starbuck put her hand on the ejection handle (yellow bar at side of seat). And there definitely WAS a Heavy Raider there (after the "60 seconds to hard deck" call there was a very brief shot with the camera POV behind Lee's Viper that showed the raider disappearing into a cloud then Starbuck's Viper going in right behind it... so it wasn't just in her head). And when Starbuck's Viper catches fire, it passes the camera and the cockpit is hidden for about 2 seconds before the ship explodes. Just enough time to eject out of our sight.

My guess is that Starbuck ejected at the last possible second and the heavy raider picked her up. Or if she's a Cylon, the raider possibly acted as a conduit to a resurrection ship.

According to a TV guide interview with executive producer David Eick, one of the main characters will be revealed as a Cylon by the end of the season. And the final episode is supposed to have some major revelations.

The best news from the interview is that BSG has been picked up for a 4th season (although the premiere is not until January 2008).

None of the commenters at Garfield Ridge liked the episode. They seemed to dislike the overt religious context. I have always found the spirituality of the characters (both human and cylon) to be extremely interesting.

BTW, one usually has a spiritual epiphany when one is at a low point. I'm just sayin'.
