More on why the Left and Democrats cannot be trusted ...

... to take national security seriously. Time

Britain's MI-5 intelligence service and Scotland Yard had been tracking the plot for several months, but only in the past two weeks had the plotters' planning begun to crystallize, senior U.S. officials tell TIME. In the two or three days before the arrests, the cell was going operational, and authorities were pressed into action. MI5 and Scotland Yard agents tracked the plotters from the ground, while a knowledgeable American official says U.S. intelligence provided London authorities with intercepts of the group's communications.
"we do know about this pervasive wiretapping virtually compels the conclusion that the President of the United States has been breaking the law repeatedly and persistently." Al Gore

"It is a violation of law. ... There's nothing in the FISA law that we passed that suggests the President has this power." John Kerry (D-MA) on the NSA Surveillance Program

"I think the Administration is violating the National Security Act of 1947 by failing to brief the full intelligence committees." Jane Harmon (D-CA)

"We know why we're here really--it is to address the embarrassing fact that the Congress has allowed the president to conduct warrantless surveillance of American citizens in violation of FISA." Rush Holt (D-NJ)

“Five years after 9-11, it is clear that our misguided policies are making America more hated in the world and making the war on terrorism harder to win.” Edward Kennedy (D-MA).

I'm not even getting into the River in Egypt stuff to be had by some of the ::ahem:: creme de la creme of Leftwinger blogsphere.

(though, please God, I'm hoping that the shrill.wtf.doesn't.she.read.before.attacking-jump-the-sharkiness by MM elicits some profuse apologies from MM. She needs to run away from teh Coulter schtick. Yesterday is not soon enough).

The plot definately seems to be a carbon copy of Operation Bojinka. I’ve written a fairly detailed account about Bojinka. It can be found here: - Operation Bojinka

So if your glorious Republicans are so trustworthy on this issue, how come the Bush admin was trying to divert $6 million away from the development of explosives detection research?

And when are you going to comprehend that the issue here isn't outright opposition to any surveillance of anyone at anytime. It's opposition to the idea that the Executive branch can operate without FISA court approval.

But I guess you don't do nuance.

Do you think that the courts would not have allowed our government to listen in on this kind of thing? The problem isn't spying on terrorists - that's something we want to do, even us liberals - the problem is breaking the law to do it even when there are simple ways to follow the law and still get the info that's needed.

Ooooh, sorry Darleen but Britons have this whacked out notion that judicial oversight should still be in place before telephone conversations can be intercepted.

Dishonest, too lazy to reasearch and you say THE LEFT and DEMOCRATS can't be trusted on National Security?

Whats the track record on the Party of Ideas?

DDT

What about the US sharing our communications intercepts with the UK are you missing?

Do you have more than just some link to a privacy document to show that the busting of the Islamist terror plot has anything to do at all with it?

Try dazzling someone else with bullshit. The NSA program is not illegal and the SWIFT program that the NYTimes/LATimes exposed and killed was legal.

And we know that the American moslem men arrested in the cell-phone scheme had a list of cell phones to buy that were compatible with specific chips in order to make international calls untraceable.

I'm not willing to risk the future of my daughters on terrorist apologists in the Dem party.
