Iran's 'cartoon' exhibit and a prediction

JPost

An exhibition of more than 200 cartoons about the Holocaust opened Monday as Iran's response to last year's Muslim outrage over a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad in a Danish newspaper.

The display, showing 204 entries from Iran and abroad, was strongly influenced by the views of Iran's hard-line president, Mahoud Ahmadinejad, who drew widespread condemnation last year for calling the Holocaust a "myth" and saying Israel should be destroyed.

One cartoon by Indonesian Tony Thomdean shows the Statue of Liberty holding a book on the Holocaust in its left hand and giving a Nazi-style salute with the other.

Prediction There will be no worldwide riots by enraged Jews, burning Iranian and Indonesian flags, beating moslems and burning down moslem mosques and businesses.

This is the lowest I`ve seen anyone stoop in the public world. You don`t answer evil with evil. The Holocaust was one of the most terrible things in human history. Jesus being crucified was the worse. And don`t get on your high horse and say muslims didn`t do that the jews did, No, it was Jesus who let all of us, humanity, pitiful and pathetic as we are crucify him. He loves you, why can`t you be Christlike and love each other. Suicide bombings and cheap pot shots at each other doesn`t get you to Heaven. It`s Faith and the Grace of God.

Is that the best they could come up with. Typical stupid, sophomoric stunt that certainly shows the level of intellectual thought by the leaders of Iran.

Amazing how they can draw a direct relationship between a cartoon that killed no one to an event that killed millions. I suppose since those millions were Jews that it doesn't count for them.

This kind of thing is why people like Ahmadinejad and those who think like him will never be taken seriously except, perhaps, as targets for cruise missles.

Good points Godly Dude but you missed one key point: the entire religion of Islam is based on retribution and revenge. If you disagree, go read the Koran.
Muhammad led by the sword as do most Islamic-led countries in this day and age.

The amazing thing about the crucifixion of Christ is that not only did he take the punishment for my, and your, sin, he also did not seek retribution on those who condemned him. In fact, in an amazing testimony to his Holiness, he asked God the Father to forgive the very people who put him on the cross.

Bill, your right on with your comment. I do agree with your statement, but was trying to not take potshots at The Koran or any other religion. Everyone is bestowed with the right to choose in their heart whom to follow. Its quiet a shame that so many choose to follow Satan. The best thing that I can offer in my defense for my belief is the Bible. God`s written word can never be proven wrong. There will never be a permanent peace there .

Fellas, I think you are both missing the point.

This isn't about religion. True Muslims do not believe in this kind of crap. Their beliefs, actually, are far closer to Christian beliefs than most people know.

This is about hatred using religion as an excuse. All through history religion has been used as the excuse for a lot of spilled blood. Christianity has a history of it as well as Muslims. The Catholic Poles are about as anti-Semite as they come. To this day tremendous anti-Semitism flourishes in the world, not just in the Mideast.

What has to be combatted is the culture of hate, the culture of death and the culture of intolerance. We are going to have to defeat this new rise of Fascism in the world and it is gonna get worse before it gets better.

Although religion can play a role in the struggle, we have to remember that this is really about hate. I fear for our children.

Sorry to diagree, but we are on the point. Everything you do in life is about religion. Most people just try to avoid it. Its been about religion since Adam and Eve. God is supposed to be included in your life evry minute of everyday."No Exceptions"
It`s not just about hate and intolerance. There`s no tolerance for evil no matter how or in what name you try to justify it. You can`t be poltically correct and straddle the fence and be lukewarm and play peacemaker. It`s Good vs Evil plain and simple. This is according to scripture. All of this has been fortold in Revelations. Nonbelievers don`t like to talk about this because if they think about it somewhere in the back of their mind when they are all alone they have to consider their own salvation. Yes indeed it`s about religion, everything you do is about it and especially this. This area plays a major role in the fulfillment of events in Revelations that ultimately will lead to the very end of this evil world. Not hate, evil older than time is what its about, the devil the deceiver of mankind.

You can’t win for loosing with these Islamic nut cake types. If we Blast them, then we are intolerant. If we ignore them, then they will say we are weak. Unfortunately, nothing short of an all out war (the non-politically correct type) is going to end their quest for power. We will sit by & do nothing as Iran produces their nuclear arsenal. (Or while Osama & the boys acquire a few loose Russian or North Korean ones) Then they will use it. Then the finger pointing on our side will start but unfortunately, it will be too late.
I hope this prediction doesn't come true, but my heart & gut tells me otherwise.

They're having an EXHIBIT? I'm with Steve on this: "Typical stupid, sophomoric stunt that certainly shows the level of intellectual thought by the leaders of Iran."
UNBELIEVABLY juvenile! No wonder they're so f'd up there, with that kind of hateful and childish mentality!

Jeff, you said you can't win for losing with those Islamists. It's also the idiotarian, politically correct, moral relativists that have MADE us afraid to act in our own best interests--as though acting in our own interests were a BAD thing! If government isn't expected to act in our best interest, then what's the point in having government at all? Those leftards I suppose would be happier if we all just fell under the weak, worthless UN. Then we would all be "perfect" and "at peace," I guess. (In that magical Utopia of their imaginations, that is.) So yes, it's the vile Islamists, but it's also the Left that's given them the opportunity. Once again, they're the useful idiots.

We need to send in black ops guys and just pick off Ahmadinejad and all of those looney mullahs, and to hell with the fallout from it. It's better than those madmen getting their hands on nukes!

Steve said that "This isn't about religion. True Muslims do not believe in this kind of crap."

I have to disagree with him 100%

Who is to declare what a "true muslim" is? The majority of Muslims DO believe that hatred of the West and all it stands for is the message of the prophets and war against the West must be the primary mission and purpuse of all "true" muslims. I think Steve is trying to appease the muslims by declaring the radicals as being outside the mainstream of Islamic thought.

This kind of appeasement, making excuses for the actions of the the muslim community, is the goal of the terrorists. If we excuse and defend the community that supports the terrorists, then support for the terrorist grows unabated.

the West must realize that this is not a gray area. I am not saying that we must resist the spread of Islam in all its forms, but to miss the connection between the growth of Islam and the growth of terrorism is to be foolish.

Posted by: advizor at August 22, 2006 11:38 AM

Nope, I am not trying to appease anyone.

What a majority of Muslims think about us is a seperate issue from what their faith is SUPPOSED to be about.

I agree that many Muslims around the world are being taught to hate the West, and this sounds a lot like how the Crusades started up. Read your history, the Crusades were dreamed up by the Catholic Church and the leaders of Europe for other than altruistic reasons.

People then were taught to fear and hate the evil Muslim enemy who would slaughter Christian babies, etc...blah, blah, blah.

It seems like these psycho fascist Muslim extremists are sounding a lot like the old psycho Christian extremists from the era of the Crusades. They appear to be using very similar tactics to brainwash their populace.

None of this makes it right or good. The simple fact of the matter is that it looks like we may have a "Holy War" of global proportions on our hands before much longer. However, it is important to remember that this doesn't REALLY have a THING to do with religion. This is about hate and power in the NAME of religion.

By labeling an entire religion as EVIL, people like you are playing right into the hands of the enemy. We need to work with whatever sane people we can to find these killers and deal with them. We need to stop the purveyors of hate, take away or reduce their propaganda opportunities, and keep religion out of this as a scapegoat.

What is YOUR alternative? Should we just kill anyone who proclaims to be a Muslim? I don't hear anything here except the same kind of hate and simpleminded solutions like "Resist the Spead of Islam" that are doomed to failure before the words are uttered.

You cannot KILL an idea. You have to CHANGE it.

Steve

I believe you've swallowed the myth of the Crusades, not the history.

The Crusades were a defensive war against Islam that had conquered, by sword, all of the ME. Exactly what was the ME before Muhammed? It was a Christian land...and not only did Muhammad take the ME through violence, but swept into Spain and even invaded France.

If you want us history as a basis of argument, at least get it right.

Islamism is a totalitarian ideology unfit for humans. And the moderates still aren't up to reforming it, they are still apologizing and attempting to rationalize for the radical elements.

People, when are we going to realize that changing idealogy of a people is one the closest thing to the impossible dream that you can get. Once again, the most important underlying issues are not hate, what we or they were taught, history, or idealogy, but about something simple and basic. It`s good vs evil. It has already been foretold in the Bible these things happening in the world would come to pass and there will not be any changing these events. There is never going to be a permanent peace between these people. There will be a temporary one which will deceive many, but will be followed by tribulations of such magnitude the world has never known . Its simple and you can argue back and forth on this page until you are blue in the face and have finger cramps from typing, but bottom line is Good vs evil. People when they know the truth in their hearts will do anything to avoid it because its something they are uncomfortable with or do not know much about it, but ultimately will have to face. You want to do something for these people, other around you, the world, or yourself, pray to God and ask him to forgive you and let his Grace Jesus Christ come into your heart and save you before its too late. For all the athesists, muslims, nonchrisitans, and anyone that dont believe, its not about denominations, tracts of land, laws of man, history, or politics, etc... its about letting Jesus Christ save your soul and saving the souls of others.
