Pimping your baby (and I mean baby)

You know you've arrived in an alternative universe (or really hope it is, because that means you can leave) when a kids-clothing line is introduced by a start-up company with the incredulous name of "Pimpfants" and read this on the about us page:

Inspired by a decade of living on the streets of San Francisco, our designer's creations embrace the urban street culture and reflect the vibrant underground that has now become mainstream.

Pimpfants was founded in 2005 by three friends (two dads and one guy trying daily), searching for kids clothing that better expressed their cultural interests.

Pimpfants fresh designs fill the clothing void that has long been overlooked for the new generation of parents who want their children to be both hip and comfortable.

So quasi-gangbanger clothing goes infant through toddler. With old English gangbanger writing, logo's like "baby bling" and a milk bottle labeled "40 oz", it can join all the sexy ho looks of the grade school set.

Charming.

why don't all you right wing conservatives take a valium or something!!! that is what you do best, right? if you don't like it, don't buy it. i hate all your cheesy mainstream crap but i'm not out there whining and moaning at you. GROW UP!!!!! it's AMERICA!!!! you know, land of the FREE!!!! JUST DEAL!!!! why don't you spend this free time you have, writing to the higher ups about some better education for our children. i would definitely put my children in these cute clothes(that actually cover up the body unlike some corporate clothing establishments that have taken over the malls). my children are growing up in a very loving, family oriented home........ and i doubt i'll be spending $$$ on pole dancing lessons and therapy sessions. talking about therapy sessions, i'll bet most of the kids in therapy are those that are from well established$$$$ families who have money and not time for there kids. you know... NEGLIGENCE!!! not all people in therapy are poor street people>>> what does therapy cost again???? GET A LIFE and find something else to do with your time. maybe start a clothing line of your own.......... think about it!!!!

whoa, sandra

chill sister. your kids will appreciate it.

Hey, no one is stopping you from buying Pimpfant clothes and dressing your child as a tiny gangsta rapper.

I bet you put sweaters on your dog, too.

Actually, I think the "Notorious K.I.D." T-shirt is kind of cute. And who can resis a child wearing a large, oversized baseball hat?

psssst... PW .... that's not a baseball cap.

it's a knit cap pulled down low worn even in 90 degree weather

and a parent should not have even a 3 y/o wearing a red gangsta hat in Crips territory

it will earn someone a bullet

I am quite pleased that somebody had the brains to produce clothing that suits today's culture and youth.
This "free" country has always been a frontier for fashion and style. You fuddy-duddies need to let culture grow. As the mother of five well-raised children, I am more offended by the mainstream fashions and the campaigns to control what my children wear.
GO PIMPFANTS!!
p.s. to the author, the word is logos, not logo's. Just saying.

Mainstream (skanky), Pimp (a real one), PIMPFANT (decently attired)
People, get a life, get your priorities straight, and leave those who still possess the American Spirit to their business.

Stephanie

No one is denying your choice to dress your children any way you want. Go ahead and make your kids nothing more than your pet and dress them in minishirts, bare midriffs or gangbanger outfits.

No one has yet outlawed stupid, obnoxious parenting.

Clay/Stephanie (please, let's drop the pretense at pretending to be more than one person, ok?)

The tracksuit in the bottom pic is no problem. But a parent who dresses their INFANT or toddler in a "babybeater" shirt with a "40 oz" isn't doing it for the child.

WHY in heaven's name would anyone want to emulate gangbangers or have their CHILDREN emulate them?

Posted by: Darleen at May 7, 2006 01:38 PM

The style represented by Pimpfants is not gangbanger. It is white-guy style from San Francisco, and it's cute.
Do you dress your children? I know I did. That is what parents do.
If you dress your children, do you opt for the Tucker Carlson look? Perhaps Survivor chic?
Tell your rugrat, "Nice Suit!".
p.s. Just because we are both literate, you think I am also my husband? Odd, you.
