Your turn for some musing

What I especially love being part of The Cotillion is much of our "behind the scenes" discussions we hold among ourselves via email or chat. I'm really impressed with the passion and intelligence of my sisters, even if we don't always agree with each other. Our mutual respect is pretty awesome.

I may try and recap some of the points of our discussion this past weekend, but I want to turn to something that is a "hot button" issue that crosses across the ideological lines -- P0rn.

I said in one of my emails: THAT is a major difference between the sexes. Visual p0rn industry is (with a few exceptions) made by men for men. Written erotica or romance novels are read by women.

And the p0rn of today is quite different from the "naughty" pictures of say, the 1950's. (h/t Feisty Republican Whore)

I find nothing, per se, legally wrong with p0rn as long as all participants (actors, consumers) are in it voluntarily and it's kept away from kids. Personally, a little of it goes a long way and gets pretty boring pretty fast. Your milege may vary.

So, what do you think? Here's a few points to ponder as a start and I hope you all will comment.

I don't know the answers to your questions, but the pictures on retro raunch were pretty nice.

I don't know what to think about the wh---, Hook--, uh, lady of the evening site.

I guess ladies offering commercial sex could use their own sites to gin up business.

Porn always has -- and always will -- come in many varieties. Even in the 50's there was underground hardcore porn. Some of the first pictures taken were of naked women "spreading".

Porn has always been at the forefront of technology from print media to the VCR to the SVCD to the DVD to the Internet.

Whether you're into nice beautiful layouts like Playboy (or even topless only bikini mags), hardcore S&M or torture sex, it will always exist whether it is in the written word or visually.

Thinking that written porn is only for women is a fallacy. I personally find the written word more stimulating than pictures as long as it fits in with my particular likes and dislikes.

As with anything, such as guns, drugs and alcohol, porn in the hands of a few individuals with psycho tendencies could be bad, but no matter what, it will always exist.

I don't think it objectifies women. If anything I personally believe that a woman who lets it all go in the bedroom will be more loved than some prude who is worried her mate may look at her differently. Do you want your mate to love the facade you've been putting up or to love you fully?

To all you women out there, lighten up already.

For a lot of men, naked women are more valuable than money or power (hence the porn industry even existing along with strip clubs, prostitution and wars throughout history over women). I honestly don't think women understand this at all. For most men naked women are priority one, above all else even at the detriment of their lives.

Get it through your heads ladies. It's not disgusting, it's an inborn trait that can't be trained to go away. And no your husband or boyfriend is not a perv because that's the way he's built. Rather than berate him or make him feel like crap for who he is, how about a little support?
