Spike Lee jumps the shark
Jeff Harrell points out a strange, new Lee movie The C.S.A., a "historical" documentary of the Confederate States of America (if the South won the Civil War). Jeff opines
I thought in order to be satire it would have to be, you know, funny in some waySpike Lee has enjoyed more business success than about 90% of fellow American citizens, and he can't help but try to insult the intelligence of everyone within hearing distance of this attempt at humor.
Of course, if this mean-spirited movie bombs, Spike will take no personal responsibility.
He's a multi-millionare still fightin' The Man.

From the descriptions I have seen of the movie, it is a pointless and irrelevent satire. Much like Spike Lee. The CSA did not survive, let alone win the war.
But let us continue with UB's thinly veiled assertion (thinly veiled) that ALL Southerners are racists. that is a mighty broad brush there. Are you sure you wish to continue down that path. Because if the broad brush works in one direction it has to work in all directions. Do you really wish to be tarred with the worst of any given demographic you might belong to? If the answer is "no" then you might want to find a little narrower brush.

When is darleen going to come out of her fog of irrelevant cultural commentary?
Here's what inquiring minds want to know: Just last week, darleen declared that we are at war with Islam, the religion of barbarians. This week, her big daddy Bush revealed that he has no problem giving the keys to US port terminals to an Islamic government known to have financed 9/11, whose royal family likes to holiday with Osama Bin Laden and who are about as far from a democratic, free market society as you can get.
I would so like to hear how the great minds in wingnuttia are processing this one. Bush can be king because we fear terra....Bush sells our port terminals to an Islamic state sponsor of terrorism.

Thanks for the yet another lesson in how you view everything from a Leftist cognitively dissonant POV.
You can't separate the difference between Islam and Islamism and now you can't separate either the difference between management of terminals and port security OR why a UAE based company is any different from one based in, say, England or Singapore (24 of 25 companies in the whole world that are in the business of managing port operatons are non-American).

However, giving an actual true blue STATE SPONSOR OF TERRA detailed access to our port operations and security procedures - no problem! Especially since Bush's buddies the Carlyle Group stand to make a profit off it.

As one who grew up in the Deep South, I can vouch for the C.S.A.'s endurance in the minds of millions of White southern men. That rebel flag on the bumper of every pickup truck. Republican strategists from Nixon on have tapped into the C.S.A. defenders for votes, and even Howard Dean made reference to the importance of winning over that constituency. So, i don't think Spike is playing in pure fantasyland.

He said a company the size of Dubai Ports World would be able to get hundreds of visas to relocate managers and other employees to the United States. Using appeals to Muslim solidarity or threats of violence, al-Qaeda operatives could force low-level managers to provide some of those visas to al-Qaeda sympathizers, said King, who for years tracked similar efforts by organized crime to infiltrate ports in New York and New Jersey. Those sympathizers could obtain legitimate driver's licenses, work permits and mortgages that could then be used by terrorist operatives.
Dubai Ports World could also offer a simple conduit for wire transfers to terrorist operatives in the Middle East. Large wire transfers from individuals would quickly attract federal scrutiny, but such transfers, buried in the dozens of wire transfers a day from Dubai Ports World's operations in the United States to the Middle East would go undetected, King said.
Let's ignore that the US COAST GUARD warned of INTEL GAPS that made it impossible for them to sign off on the deal.
