Just to be clear, we Democrats are fine with wiretapping. We'll even let you wiretap without getting a warrant in advance! We just ask that you follow FISA and get a retroactive warrant within the 72 hours after you do the wiretapping. This kind of oversight is what prevents presidents from wiretapping their political opponents, or bugging their opponents' headquarters (this actually happened once). I hope this doesn't sound too unreasonable.
