Keerist!! McCain does something

..that might get me to actually backoff my grudge against him for anti-first-amendment and incumbent protection campaign reform.

February 6, 2006

The Honorable Barack Obama
United States Senate
SH-713
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Obama:

I would like to apologize to you for assuming that your private assurances to me regarding your desire to cooperate in our efforts to negotiate bipartisan lobbying reform legislation were sincere. When you approached me and insisted that despite your leadership’s preference to use the issue to gain a political advantage in the 2006 elections, you were personally committed to achieving a result that would reflect credit on the entire Senate and offer the country a better example of political leadership, I concluded your professed concern for the institution and the public interest was genuine and admirable. Thank you for disabusing me of such notions with your letter to me dated February 2, 2006, which explained your decision to withdraw from our bipartisan discussions. I’m embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble. Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won’t make the same mistake again.*

It goes on from there, but Holy Mary Mother of God, that's gonna leave a mark!

Yowzer.

Never mind. I found it. OUCH!

Double ouch!

Obama is a big fake. I thought he might one of the few good Democrats after his keynote speech at the Dem convention, but he's become another left-wing America hater in the fine tradition of Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton.

Actually Senator Obama is a fine man and an excellent politician.

With any degree of luck the GOP will be kicked out of power in the Senate and will revert back to their rightful place in US politics as a minority party.

He doesn't hate America, he does, however dislike Mr Bush's policies.

As do many people nowadays.....

Carl

The Dems only will regain power (regardless of how the MSM does almost everything in its power to lie/obfuscate/spin to help fellow leftists) when the Dems become anti-leftist liberals again.

As long as Dems have the ilk of Kennedy/Kerry/Dean/Boxer/Durbin/Pelosi/Reid to put on shows and provide statements of their basic adherence to European values, the voters will continue to vote for the American values embodied in the Republican party.

Most European values are American values, Mz. Darleen.

Western Europeans and North Americans share the same basic values of liberal democracy. Personal freedom and so forth. There's differences in the details, but not much.

Where do you think the ideals of the American revolution came from?

From Europe. Britain and France to be exact.

Posted by: Carl W. Goss at February 7, 2006 01:29 PM

Goss - the Europe, Britain, and France you speak of, no longer exist. Britain may come the closest, but even there they fight a continuous battle against the Socialist/Communists/Unions that, as in the past, offer the people the typical lies of wealth and prosperity when what always occurs is runaway inflation and a collapsing economy. The French people are still trying to figure out how they got hoodwinked into it as are the Canadians. America is not a Socialism and never will be. In fact most Americans will tell you they deeply resent using European references to try to change our system and way of life. I hear a leftwing poly-sci prof's words in the litany of the Democratic left. Its pretty transperant.

- The less than 15%, and of that less than 5%, of extremists that comprise the hard left in America, will never carry the day. You can delude yourself and wish it were so all you like. It isn't going to happen. Most people look at the sorts of antics the power starved Democrats have engaged in since 2000, and wonder how they ever got in power at all.

- I have a number of Democratic friends who are totally embarrassed by the actions of the left and talking about moving either independent or conservative. You can't win elections without a coallition of a majority and a social plan, and the left has neither, choosing to wage a mass campaign of lies, rhetoric, and distortions as their idea of a winning plan. Now they've done what amounts too almost political suicide, failing to beat Bush at the ballot box they seek to expand Constitutional powers to "control" him. They will achieve neither. What they will achieve is to paint themselves as soft on the WOT, and self serving to the point where they will even seek to hobble the President in his constitutional duties to protect America. Thats partisanship thats both shameless and idiotic, and will cost you dearly come election time. Maybe theres a few children under the age of 6 that think this is all about "protecting our liberties". Every adult knows its in fact, just another a Bullshit Democratic/left political witch hunt.

- If you think this constant drum beat of BDS "get Bush" crap is going to carry the day at the ballot box, you're simply delutional.

- To which I say go for it.

- Delusional too - PIMF

BBH

Excellent. You've hit all the points I would have made to Carl.

Carl? Also understand that current Euro values (with the exception to a certain extent of Britian) eschew individualism. Euro's don't know how to dig themselves out of soul-killing socialism and nihilism is so rampant they can't even reproduce themselves. The Dems think we should emulate EU no more easily demonstrated then the call to have our SCOTUS consider international law and sensibilities when they consider cases before them.

No, thank you.

- It probably went something like this, with Reid quickly straightening out the new guy on the Block.... "Whoa now son....We know your new around here but thats just not how things are done....Now be a good junior Senator and play the game"... (or words to tha effect)....Obama's a pretty savy guy....I'm thinking the whole thing embarrassed the hell out of him... As I've thought on other occassions, it must be hell at times living in the left....
