You all know I work with cops. Have for more than seven years. And cops from more than one agency, too, on a regular basis.
I have refrained from commenting on the London shooting of the electrician because there is just no way to look at the exact same scenario and see any other outcome. It was awful, horrible, tragic in every sense. But you know what? I don't want to even HEAR of the idiocy of "the guy was executed because he was brown." Because you know what my answer will be??

Cool, thanks for all that profanity and inhumanity in the rant you linked to. Lovely! I mean, why feel sorry for murdering an unarmed innocent who ran from the cops because he was probably an illegal alien. I sure don't care about insignificant fellow human beings like him.

I agree though who cares about an illegal Brazilian alien. What's really important is when a blonde teenage slut goes off to Aruba and wallows in drugs, alcohol and promiscuous sex, then disappears. I think we should invade fucking Aruba already. Who do they think they are not making this degenerate kid their main priority, especially when her parents are filthy rich Southern American Baptists (who happened to raise a little drugged out slut they refused to properly supervise).

I'm not making any comment at all on the police accident. It's just always a delight to behold the belligerant hypocrisy of the wingnuts. It's not bad enough an innocent guy gets iced. It wouldn't rustle my feathers if it just came from a verbose sociopath, as it sounds like it did. If there are such a thing as "Leftie Talking Points" on this issue, I haven't seen them yet, but I doubt MamaMabel is expressing them with any accuracy.
What has me particularly concerned about what happened in London is that the officers were all in plainclothes. So it's not clear, from anything I've heard, that he understood that the men chasing him with guns were police.

I have never read Harrell before, but I am kind of shocked that you endorse his way of thinking D. It's just so extreme and hostile. I know we disagreee on a lot, but usually with an attempt at making an intellegent argument. Your endorsement of this guys post is surprising - and yes they were plain clothes officers coming after him.
I feel nothing but pity for those poor cops who were doing their job; it is a very hard situation. It was an accident, they didn't intentionally kill an innocent man, and given the same set of circumstances they would probably do the exact same thing. I understand that. These are difficult times for everyone.

This episode is tragic, in many ways. But Jeff Harrell is in so much denial he needs his head examined. I'm sure he'd feel differently if someone HE knew, black or brown or white, were shot seven times by cops who were understandably edgy but had him on the ground and under arrest when they pulled the trigger. Seven times.

Do you really think if he had looked like Jude Law or Brad Pitt or Lance Armstrong (looking for white examples) they would have shot him? I don't think they would have. That said, I totally get it why they wouldn't have. We don't have a lot of blondies trying to blow up buses in the name of Islam.
You know how liberal I am, but man in this situation, I just laugh when cops do the PC thing of pulling over white, 20 something women in the NYC subway system so that they don't look like they are "profiling" as they search for bombers. I get it that racial profiling by cops on the NJ Turnpike is bullshit, that a white guy is just as likely to be a drug runner as a black guy, but in the case of terrorism, it's just not the "white" guys or women who are blowing up the buildings and planes. We all know that, so I don't think they would have shot him if he'd been "white".

I probably didn't pull enough of Brad's posting. He made allusion to Diallo and the general meme on that, like the meme on the London shooting, is that it was RACIST. That somehow white cops can't help themselves..when they see "brown" or "black" they are driven to orgasmic murder.
Certainly if this had been a random 35 y/o white woman, she might not have been shot...
UNLESS the cops had had HER apartment under surveillence for days and then thought she might be a suicide bomber (remember the Islamist woman caught by Israelis when she failed to blow herself up?).
They didn't pick him out in random because he was brown and they were racist.
