Oh! Kewl!

James Lileks has started another column within his Bleats:

Screedblog -- excerpt:

The latest example of the US Army’s Koran Humiliation Initiative has that headline-grabbing word: URINE. You’d think Private Anderson swaggered over, unholstered Private Johnson and let loose a pounding stream of tangy intentional desecration on the book as it was clutched to the sobbing breast of the terrorist. (Sorry, detainee.) Of course, what really happened was slightly less horrible; someone took a leak outside the cells, and the gentle Caribbean breeze carried a jot of pee through a ventilation grill, where it lit upon the Koran.

That was hilarious. I may steal your HTML formatting joke, just be advised. On June 6th, actually, I wrote Lileks a little email because the man, in the Bleat, consistently creeps me out with references to highly specific things I've done and places I've been (I grew up about 5 minutes away from where he lives now).

June 6th was the worst parallel lives Bleat yet. It was down to mentioning his daughter seeing the Teddy Bear Band, which was started when I was in Kindergarten with the band's founder's daughter (who was my friend all through high school) and mentioning sending his daughter to the U of MN to participate in psychology "play studies", which my mom also volunteered me for in the same place at the same age. (Of course the building that the studies were held in was a building I had psychology classes in as a college student too).

Guy never wrote me back, of course ;-)
