It's going around

Between the twin's cold, Heather's skydiving, office politics (which I try ducking like crazy), Siobhan's last minute "btw, mom, I know it's Wednesday, but I'm going to homecoming Saturday and I need [fill appropriate wallet-sucking stuff here]", a myriad of little crappy things that should not bother me at all and then mix in my continuing battle with myself as I'm "pre-menopausal" (jaysus, when does that phase end?) and .... well ....

No one can quite capture The Mood in word as well as Michele.

She's also been doing "Halloween blogging" this week. Halloween each year battles with Christmas for first place in my favorite holiday category. :-) Read her posts and let the memories commence.

Funny you should mention the skydiving part (here and at Michele's).

My oldest, 19, went skydiving last weekend. I wasn't against it, just wanted her to pay for her own thrills. I'd rather she was skydiving than doing some of the things I did as a teenager. :)

My junior decided to go three days before, but she borrowed a dress, a heavenly coffee-colored creation. All we had to buy were shoes, a bag and some jewelry. Hooray for Payless and Claire's... Big Sister came over to do her hair (another saving) and she looked lovely. She's a jeans and T-shirt kind of gal, so she enjoyed the many double-takes from friends at the dance.
Love the Band Mom comments! We Drill Team Moms thought the evil Band was the Devil, steadily cutting into our half-time minutes so they could practice their "Medley from 'Sunset Boulevard'" competition routine. But all is forgiven...

Morning Sally

Interestingly, at both my daughters' high schools (my two older ones graduated from another local one than the one the younger two attend[ed]) Drill Team has transmorgrified into Guard. During marching season they are part and parcel of the field show. During our concert season they have court season where they do head to head competition with other small Guard units.

I, myself, was halfway between. My senior yr in high school I was a "majorette" who twirled baton in front of the band rather than played an instrument. Our drill team was head and shoulders above the band in skill and flash. Awesome. Our drill team captain, Donna Cline, won Miss Drill Team USA in 1972.

Is Sunset Blvd your field show this year? Sounds great and I hope you all do well with it.

Actually, Drill Team daughter graduated in '97, and is now married and a mom, but thanks for the kind wishes! Since then, I've also been an Orchestra Mom and a Theater Mom (daughter #3 is a tech). Drill Team was the most intense, with all that undiluted estrogen floating around...
