Continuing the subject - Coarsening the Culture
I've received some feedback on my first post on this subject about the example I used. Some are claiming (as the Superintendent did) that the teacher is lying. That she was a political hack in class and trying to indoctrinate her students. I acknowledge that the teacher and the district have completing claims, so while at this point I find the teacher more credible, I do not claim that this story has definitively settled.
That said, and also acknowledging that there are elements within the the rightside of the aisle capable of indecent acts (like yard sign stealing), the rate of incidents of Democrat on Repubican has grown and alarmingly gotten even more severe than anything I remember happening in my lifetime. The following incidents are not in dispute.
Jim Geraghty reports on the criminal acts of violence here. SHOOTINGS at Republican headquarters in West Virginia and Tennessee. Thugs physically rushing, smashing and occupying a Republican headquarters in Florida. Private property being defaced and destroyed in Wisconsin and Colorado. Jim also follows up that post with another one listing another series of serious (not pranks) destruction and vandalism. In one incident, the perps confessed and explained their criminal activity as justified because:
It wasn't terrorism; it was activism. It was for a cause.... The whole thing is, basically, I just wanted to get the word out there that in my opinion Bush isn't doing this country any good.
There, my friends, is the Left, perfectly illustrated. F*ck your right to property, f*ck your right to personal safety, f*ck your right to free exercise of speech, f*ck your right to even your own political opinion; WE have decided who you are to support and if you don't, WE will f*ck you.
You want to give these people more "power" with the election of Kerry?

Darleen,
Why do you lump all Leftists in the same category of lootists and sociopaths? I could just as easily claim that, since Randall Terry's army of abortion clinic bombers have murdered people, that a vote for Bush is a vote to give them more power. Simplistic typecasting doesn't help to bridge the divide.
More Right Wingers have guns than Lefties anyway.

Did you read the links? The "invasion" of Republican headquarters are being done by coordinated "protestors"..one of the by the AFL-CIO.
Show me where any Republican official has publicly supported and feted Randall Terry.
Again, you are trying to make a moral equivalency argument that doesn't stand up to scrutiny. As I said before, I acknowledge that there are indecent people who identify themselves as "conservatives." Certainly Randall is among them. I condemned business-owner that fired an employee for the mere display of a Kerry sticker. I hope she pursues whatever legal avenues are open to her.
Show me an organized invasion of a Democrat Party Headquarters. Show me people arrested for destroying thousands of dollars of private property and claiming it as "activism" because Kerry is a "bad man." Show me "Communist" symbols being burned into the lawns of private homes because they displayed Kerry signs.
Small time thuggishness..ala signs stealing or egging of homes and cars .. has always been with us in tight elections and from both sides. I am noting the difference in severity AND the dominance that it is directed almost exclusively in one direction. Add to that that L.A.M.E. is not making the huge deal out of it, with the latenight "news"shows doing investigative reports, is allowing this to escalate. This is thuggery with the intent to intimidate.
Why are you dismissing it? Where is the Democratic Party's nationally broadcast condemnation of these actions and demands for justice? Do recall that the nasty "conservative" SCOTUS upheld suit against Terry's Operation Rescue.
BTW...again... I don't think all liberals are Leftists, though I know it's harder to tell the difference these days.

Darleen, there was the organized mob of GOP staffers that stopped a vote count in Florida. Remember?
But I don't paint all righties with that brush. I don't say you're all criminals just because of Tom Delay. Have some decency.
Watch Kerry tonight, and Bush, and see who's the better man. Try to take off the Limbaugh lenses for once, eh?

If those stories are true, then those people were wrong. Period. I don't want that sort of behavior associated with my party. Put 'em in jail. Wrong is wrong.
First I've heard of it, though. And it doesn't sound like any liberals I know.

Darleen, could you cite some news sources for those stories? I'd like to know if they're true.
It just doesn't sound like the behavior of liberals, certainly not your average American liberal. Left and right have their wackos, of course, but the lefties aren't usually violent at all.
There are a lot of right wing extremists who hate Bush too, you know. I read the link, but I don't see how you know they were liberals.
Let me know if I missed something.

Scott
Excuse me if I guffaw a little at your FL urban myth.
If you followed my link to NRO's Kerry Spot, Jim Geraghty has all the live links to the original local media sources.
Last I looked, rightwing extremists are not a part of the AFL-CIO. And I don't think r/w extremists are into burning swastikas on people's lawns who display GW/Cheney signs, do you? Last I looked, it was MoveOn.org and the Stalinist A.N.S.W.E.R. that were equating GW with Hitler.
