Go.Now.Immediately.

and read James Lileks. You have no choice.

:-)

UPDATE Don't miss Hugh Hewitt's debate scorecard. It is a nice graphical illustration of each question/answer with a few comments as the debate went on.

In the comments in my analysis/reaction post, reader binacontenda aka Scott chides me because Kerry "dominated." Certainly, on style but that will fade some as the transcript (also linked below) is poured over. How will Kerry's moral equivalency vis a vis The United States should immediately stop researching bunker-buster bombs because it makes us hypocrits when we are denying the same to terrorists play with real people? Certainly, the Left has made moral equivalency one of their most cherished rhetorical sticks to beat up the rest of us (ie all violence is the same; Israel is worse than Hamas; etc) but is that what we want...good lord, is that what we can afford in a President? Kerry should run for Kofi's spot if that's they way he thinks.

As to this Lileks remark:

"Here’s the thing. I’d really like to live in John Kerry’s world. It seems like such a rational, sensible place, where handshakes and signatures have the power to change the face of the planet. If only the terrorists lived there as well."

So, that means we stoop to their level, shrug off courting allies and tell the whole world to go fuck itself? That's going to solve our terrorist problem?

Lileks is a big baby. Bush is a big baby too. I wish I could convince you to stop thinking like a big baby.

Darleen,
I just wanted to say thank you for noticing my post earlier on 26 Sep. Really enjoy reading your blogs! I hate the way things are being twisted by people with an agenda, all it does is make us all look bad. I'll continue to look for misconceptions about the military and correct them when I can... and... YOU'RE VERY WELCOME!

Brad

Whaa..? I'm really at a loss for trying to grasp what you mean. Go read James again.

Do you think because we have police, jails and prisons that constitutes FAILURE because we failed to "reason" with criminals? Do you not grasp the concept that there are some people in this world who don't give a sh*t what you think, they just want to kill you?

Do you lock your car, your home? Do you carry homeowners/renters insurance against burglary? Does that mean YOU have failed?

Neville Chamberlain wrote off whole swathes of Europe to Hitler because he had been "assured" by Hitler that Hitler would go no further. Moral fools blame Israel because the Arab world wants this sliver of Western culture obliterated and the Jews won't oblige. The terrorist Zaquarwi was quoted that he laughed at Britain saying "no negotiation" because he agreed, HE said it was the duty of the infidel to obey or be killed.

Tell me, Brad, what are you not getting here about the nature of the people who want you dhimmitized or dead?

For those who can't grasp Lileks explication ( sheer brilliance, thanks for the head-up darleen) they might want to try this.

(I wish I could recall the link- I think it may have been off of comments on asmallvictory.net)
In any event it was a comment about what had been an actual class assignment for someones child- to write an esay on the difference between the left and the right.

One poster offered the explanation he had given his children, and which they said they could understand-- the left, he explained, tended to use "bat-sh*t crazy thinking and believed that cloud fairies would offer to pay for all the good things they thought up"

So, in the Kerry plan, the cloud fairies will evidently help arrange the summits and ( if The Galactic Order of the Belgian Dominion is otherwise engaged) convince the French and Germans to compete for having the last soldier die for whathe says he thinks would be a collossal mistake in the wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place.

Oh yeah-
And they all lived happily ever after
